What's new in Portal for ArcGIS 10.2.2

Portal for ArcGIS 10.2.2 is predominately a maintenance and quality improvement release. For a list of issues that are fixed in 10.2.2, see the 10.2.2 Issues Addressed List. For a summary of other changes in the software, see the following sections.

It's recommended that you review the deprecation notice to determine if your hardware and software components are still compatible with version 10.2.2. To review which earlier ArcGIS product versions are compatible with Portal for ArcGIS 10.2.2, see Portal compatibility with earlier versions of ArcGIS.

PKI support when using LDAP authentication

At 10.2.2, you can use Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) to secure access to your portal when using Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) to authenticate users. Setting up PKI and LDAP requires the ArcGIS Web Adaptor (Java Platform). For full instructions, see Using LDAP and PKI to secure access to your portal.

Script the administration of your portal

The Portal for ArcGIS help documentation now includes samples that allow you to script common actions using the ArcGIS REST API. For example, invite members, copy items, grant members access to groups, and so on. You can use the ArcGIS REST API with any programming language that supports the use of HTTP requests, such as Python, PHP, Perl, JavaScript, or PowerShell.

To learn more, see Scripting Portal for ArcGIS administration.

PKI authentication fixes

Numerous fixes have been installed to help support Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) authentication in Portal for ArcGIS and Esri client applications, such as Operations Dashboard for ArcGIS and Esri Maps for Office. For a list of specific fixes, see the 10.2.2 Issues Addressed List.

Portal for ArcGIS website

The Portal for ArcGIS website has not been updated in version 10.2.2. Web application templates and other website enhancements included with the latest release of ArcGIS Online will not take effect in Portal for ArcGIS until a later release.
