Upgrading the ALRS

Esri Roads and Highways provides the functionality to upgrade an advanced linear referencing system (ALRS) created in an earlier release of Esri Roads and Highways.

Upgrading an ALRS from a Roads and Highways database

An ALRS created using an earlier release of Esri Roads and Highways must be upgraded.

To upgrade the ALRS, right-click the ALRS in ArcCatalog or the Catalog window in ArcMap and click Upgrade ALRS.

Upgrade ALRS Context menu

Upon upgrading the ALRS, users will be prompted to enable conflict prevention and set the lock root version in the ALRS properties. Select Enable Conflict Prevention to use the locking mechanisms enforced by Esri Roads and Highways. Use the Lock Root Version drop-down arrow to set the DEFAULT or surrogate version from which all versions will be reconciled and edits will be posted to. To learn more about managing geodatabase versions, see Creating versions and setting permissions.
