Choosing a feature class as the AOI for added map sheets

10.2.1 is the final release in which MPS-Atlas is available for installation. It is recommended that map series created with MPS-Atlas be moved to data driven pages. For more information, see Migrating an MPS-Atlas map book to Data Driven Pages.

When adding map sheets, you can select areas of interest (AOIs) from a geodatabase feature class.

Steps:
  1. Start ArcMap.
  2. On the main menu, click Customize > Toolbars > MPS Atlas.
  3. Click the MPS Atlas window button MPS Atlas window on the MPS Atlas toolbar.

    The MPS Atlas window appears.

  4. If necessary add a map sheet by right-clicking the map series and choosing Add Map Sheets.
  5. Click Feature Class in the Area of Interest list on the Select Area Of Interest dialog box.

  6. Click Browse.

    The Selection dialog box appears.

  7. Navigate to the feature class you want to use.
  8. Click Select.

    The Feature Class text box is populated with the selected feature class. An associated field appears by default in the Name Field drop-down list.

  9. Click the Name Field drop-down arrow and choose the field you want to use to assign a name to each map sheet.
  10. Click Select Features.

    The Select Features dialog box appears.

  11. Use the zooming tools to focus on your particular area of interest, or use the selection tools to choose a particular set of features from the feature class.
  12. Click OK.
