Creating a VBScript expression

10.2.1 is the final release in which MPS-Atlas is available for installation. It is recommended that map series created with MPS-Atlas be moved to data driven pages. For more information, see Migrating an MPS-Atlas map book to Data Driven Pages.

When defining VBScript expressions for dynamic text, you can choose a single field value or an array of values for the selected field.

Steps:
  1. Start ArcMap.
  2. Double-click the dynamic text.

    The Dynamic Text Properties dialog box appears.

  3. Click the Dynamic Text tab if necessary.
  4. Click Insert.

    The dynamic text appears in the text box.

  5. Click the dynamic text element in the text field.

  6. Click the Expression option in the Text String area.
  7. Click Edit Script.

    The Expression Parser dialog box appears.

  8. Double-click the field value you want to use as the dynamic text.
  9. If necessary, add expressions that format the text and define more complex text strings.
  10. Click Verify.
  11. Fix errors in the script as needed.
  12. Repeat steps 10–11 until there are no errors.
  13. Click OK.

    The Dynamic Text Properties dialog box appears.

  14. Click OK.
