Disabling the ArcGIS Portal Directory

The ArcGIS Portal Directory provides a browsable HTML-based representation of all your portal items, services, web maps, groups, and content. It also contains all the actions you can perform on your portal through REST. The Portal Directory can be a useful development tool; however, it's recommended that you disable the Portal Directory for production systems when you don't want users browsing your list of items, finding your services in a web search, or making requests to your portal through HTML forms.

To disable the Portal Directory, follow the steps below.

LegacyLegacy:

In 10.2, you were required to edit a properties file on disk to disable the ArcGIS Portal Directory. This is no longer required at 10.2.1 and later versions. The following instructions only apply to 10.2.1 and later versions. For help with these instructions at 10.2, see the 10.2 documentation.

Steps:
  1. Open the Portal Directory and log in with a member who has administrator access to the portal. The URL is formatted https://webadaptor.domain.com/arcgis/portaladmin.
  2. Click Security > Config > Update Security Configuration.
  3. On the Update Security Configuration page, set the disableServicesDirectory property to true, for example, "disableServicesDirectory": true.
  4. Click Update Configuration.
