Overview of GeoEvent Services

What is a GeoEvent Service?

GeoEvent Services apply filtering and processing to GeoEvents as they flow from input to output within GeoEvent Processor. A service designer defines the flow of event data by adding processor elements and filter elements to a GeoEvent Service and then connecting these elements to inputs and outputs. GeoEvent Services are created using a visual editor. A service designer can drag service components onto a canvas, configure the components, and then connect the components to define an event flow. The final step is to publish the GeoEvent Service; this activates the service and starts the real-time processing of event data.

Creating a new GeoEvent Service

Once an administrator has created the necessary Input Connectors and Output Connectors, a service designer uses a visual editor to drag the input and output service components onto a canvas and connect the components of the GeoEvent Service. The workflow is similar to ModelBuilder in ArcGIS for Desktop, only rather than working with geoprocessing elements, the service designer is working with GeoEvent Service components.

NoteNote:

With ArcGIS 10.2.1 GeoEvent Processor for Server, the editor used to create, modify, and publish GeoEvent Services is integrated into GeoEvent Processor Manager. With previous releases, the Service Designer was available as a separate web application.
