Exporting topology to an XML file (Defense Mapping)

This topic applies to ArcGIS for Desktop Standard and ArcGIS for Desktop Advanced only.

Topology rules can be exported from a geodatabase using the Export Topology command. This can be used to export the topology from an existing dataset so it can be distributed to other members of an organization to ensure consistency. For instance, if you are working with Multinational Geospatial Co-production Program (MGCP) data, and changes have been made to the topology rules, you can export the rules to an XML file and distribute them to others who are working with the same type of data.

Steps:
  1. Start ArcCatalog.
  2. On the main menu, click Customize > Toolbars > Defense Mapping.
  3. Navigate to the dataset from which you want to export the topology in the Catalog tree window.
  4. On the Defense Mapping toolbar, click Defense Mapping > Export Topology.

The Export Topology dialog box appears.

  5. Click the ellipsis (...) next to the Topology XML File text box.

The Save topology XML document dialog box appears.

  6. Navigate to where you want to save the topology XML file.
  7. Type a name in the File name text box.
  8. Click Save.

The Export Topology dialog box appears.
