Preserving free representations (Aviation)

A free representation is a complete override of a representation rule within a single feature. The feature stores a copy of the original representation rule. As the rule applies to a single feature, you can change all representation properties, including geometry.

To preserve free representations during calculation of visual specifications, check Preserve free representations in the Calculated Representations tab of the Layer Properties dialog box. When this check box is checked, features with free representations will not have their RuleIDs recalculated during processing.

Steps:
  1. Start ArcMap.
  2. On the main menu, click Customize > Toolbars > Production Cartography.
  3. If necessary, load data in the map.
  4. Right-click the layer for which you want to define the calculated representations and click Properties.

The Layer Properties dialog box appears.

  5. Click the Calculated Representations tab.
