001402 : A geometry type was not discovered; registering a feature class with the geodatabase requires a geometry type.

Description

During registration the Register with Geodatabase tool attempts to query the input feature class to determine its geometry type. In some cases this geometry type cannot be determined.

Solution

The most common cause for this error is that an empty feature class has been provided. If this is the case, use the Create Feature Class tool to re-create the feature class. This new feature class can be registered with the geodatabase.
