Saving a configuration file

The configuration information needed to design the steps that are included in a task assistant workflow include commands, feature template settings, and layer information. Configuration information can be obtained directly from ArcMap or from a saved configuration file. A saved configuration file can be used to create multiple workflows.

Saving a configuration file can be useful when there are multiple configuration files in your organization that can be combined. You can load one configuration file and append the others to the first one. Once all the configuration files have been loaded, they can be saved as a single file. This allows you to only load the single file with all the settings you want, rather than multiple files.

Steps:
  1. Start ArcMap.
  2. If necessary, click the Task Assistant button Task Assistant on the Task Manager toolbar to display the Task Assistant window.
  3. Click the Designer tab.
  4. Right-click the Designer tab and click Save Config. File.

The Saving Configuration to File dialog box appears.

  5. Navigate to the location in which you want to save the configuration file.
  6. Click Save.
