Loading a configuration file

The configuration information needed to design the steps that are included in a task assistant workflow include commands, feature template settings, and layer information. Configuration information can be obtained directly from ArcMap or from a saved configuration file. A saved configuration file can be used to create multiple workflows.

You can load a configuration file to overwrite the current configuration settings available through the Designer tab. Once the configuration file is loaded, the new settings are visible when you configure any step or node in the workflow. For example, if the configuration file contains an updated list of geoprocessing tools, you can associate a step with a tool that was not available before.

Steps:
  1. Start ArcMap.
  2. If necessary, click the Task Assistant button Task Assistant on the Task Manager toolbar to display the Task Assistant window.
  3. Click the Designer tab.
  4. Right-click the Designer tab and click Open Config. File.

The Open Configuration File dialog box appears.

  5. Navigate to the configuration file you want to open.
  6. Click Open.

The configuration information replaces the current information and updates the list of commands, templates, and other settings that are available for the workflow.
