Using universal kriging to create a prediction map

Universal kriging assumes a trending mean. The data points need to be sampled from a phenomenon that is continuous in space. Important parameters are the trend surface, transformations, covariance/semivariogram models, and the search neighborhood.

Steps:
  1. Click the Geostatistical Analyst Wizard button Geostatistical Wizard on the Geostatistical Analyst toolbar.
  2. Select Kriging/CoKriging and choose a dataset and attribute field, then click Next.
  3. Choose Universal kriging and set the Transformation type to None.
  4. Set the Order of Trend Removal to the desired order, then click Next.
  5. Specify the desired parameters on the next dialog box and click Next.
  6. Specify the desired parameters on the Semivariogram/Covariance Modeling dialog box and click Next.
  7. Specify the desired parameters on the Searching Neighborhood dialog box and click Next.
  8. Examine the results on the Cross Validation dialog box and click Finish.
  9. Click OK on the Method Report dialog box.
