Mapping a data source from ArcMap

If your spatial data server administrator has not already mapped a data source, you can do so from your spatial data server connection in the Catalog tree in ArcMap.

The database name and user you provide for the data source must be the same as the database and user specified for the database connection used in the map.

All users connecting to the published service have the access level of the user you specify for your data source.

Steps:
  1. Start ArcMap and open the Catalog window.
  2. Connect to your spatial data server from an Administer GIS server connection.
  3. Right-click the connection and click Server Properties.

The SDS Server Properties dialog box opens.

  4. For ArcGIS Spatial Data Server for Java, do the following:
    1. Choose the data source you want to map from the Data Sources tree view.

This list contains all the data sources you have configured for the spatial data server.

    2. Click Create to open the Create Data Source Mapping dialog box.
    3. In the Server text box, type the name of the server where the database is installed. The server name must match the server name configured for the data source you chose to map.
    4. In the Database text box, type the name of the database that matches the database name of the configured data source to which you are mapping.
    5. In the User text box, type the user name for the user configured for the data source to which you are mapping.
    6. Click OK to close the Create Data Source Mapping dialog box and create the mapping.

    6. Type the name of the database user in the User text box. The user must have access to the data you want to publish.
    7. Type the corresponding password for the database user in the Password text box.
    8. Click OK to close the Create Data Source dialog box and create the data source.
