Windows Server 2008/2008 R2 IIS requirements

The ArcGIS Spatial Data Server for IIS installation process on Windows Server 2008 and Windows Server 2008 R2 operating systems requires specific components of Internet Information Services (IIS) to be installed. If these components, termed role services on Windows Server 2008 and Windows Server 2008 R2, are not installed, a message is displayed indicating certain IIS components are required and the installation will not proceed. The IIS components detailed below satisfy the minimum requirements for ArcGIS Spatial Data Server for IIS.

Steps to add web server (IIS) role services on Windows Server 2008 and Windows Server 2008 R2

  1. Click Start > Administrative Tools > Server Manager > Roles.
  2. Click Add Roles.
    NoteNote:
If IIS is already installed but not all required components have been turned on, expand Roles > Web Server (IIS). Skip to step 4.
  3. Choose Web Server (IIS) from the list and click Next.
  4. On the Select Role Services dialog box, verify that the web server components listed below are turned on.

NoteNote:

A filled box means that only that part of the feature is turned on. A check mark indicates that the feature is completely installed.

The following web server components must be installed when performing an installation on Windows Server 2008 and Windows Server 2008 R2. If these role services are not installed, the installation will not proceed.
