Merging geometries (Aeronautical Solution)

The Merge Feature Builder Geometries tool performs a topological union between features and updates their descriptive properties to reflect the changes.

Steps:
  1. Start ArcMap.
  2. On the main menu, click Customize > Toolbars > Production Editing.
  3. On the menu bar, click Customize > Toolbars > Production Feature Builder.
  4. Click the Feature Builder button Feature Builder on the Production Feature Builder toolbar.

    The Feature Builder window appears.

    TipTip:

The Feature Builder window can be placed anywhere in ArcMap, or in the Table Of Contents window, with the aid of the arrows showing the possible placement positions.

  5. Verify that the feature builder scratch dataset is loaded in your map.
  6. Click the Production Start Editing button Production Start Editing on the Production Editing toolbar.
    NoteNote:

The Manage Features and Create Attributes, Update Attributes, or Metadata Attributes windows automatically appear when you start an edit session using the Production Start Editing tool.

    TipTip:

If the Create Attributes, Update Attributes, or Metadata Attributes window does not appear when you start an edit session, click the Show/Hide Attributes button Show/Hide Attributes on the Manage Features window.

  7. Choose the feature builder scratch database as your editing workspace.
  8. Select one or more feature builder polygon and line geometries.
  9. Click the Merge Feature Builder Geometries button Merge on the Production Feature Builder toolbar.

Adjacent polygons are merged, with adjoining segments becoming lines.
