Showing the legend for a layer (Production Mapping)

In the table of contents, the legend appears below the name of the layer and displays the symbol used to represent each subtype in the map. Using the Show Selected Layer Type's Legend Information tool, you can choose to show or hide this information based on the selected layer type. Showing the legend expands the layer information in the table of contents so the legend information is visible.

Steps:
  1. Start ArcMap.
  2. If necessary, load data in the map.
  3. On the main menu, click Customize > Toolbars > Production TOC Manager.
  4. Click the drop-down arrow on the Production TOC Manager toolbar and choose a layer group.
    • All Layers—Includes all layers currently in the table of contents, whether or not they are currently visible in the map
    • Point Layers—Only includes the point layers in the table of contents, whether or not they are currently visible in the map

  5. Click the Show Selected Layer Type's Legend Information button Show Selected Layer Type's Legend Information on the Production TOC Manager toolbar.

Legend information appears for layers with the selected layer type.
