Loading a report

Loading a report allows you to make changes to the existing design of a report. This makes it easy to add additional fields, footnotes, or images to a report without having to create a report from the wizard each time you want to make a modification. Loading a report is one way to open a report in the Report Designer; the other way is to create a report with the Report Wizard.

Steps:
  1. From the View menu, choose Reports and click Load ReportLoad Report.
  2. Choose how you want to load a report by choosing which file type you want to load.

Choose a Report Layout File (.rlf) if you want to load and edit an existing report in the Report Designer. Report layout files are associated with the data that was used to create them. If you try to load a report without the original layer, you will be able to browse to a dataset on disk or map the fields of the original report to another layer in your current map. Choose a Report Document File (.rdf) if you want to display a static report in the Report Viewer.

  3. On the Load Report Document dialog box, navigate to the file you want to load.
  4. Click Open.
