CAD feature dataset properties
The CAD Feature Dataset Properties dialog box is where you manage a CAD dataset's spatial reference and view summary information about its contents. These properties and settings apply to all feature classes contained in the dataset.
To open the dialog box, right-click the CAD feature dataset in the Catalog window and click Properties on the context menu.
General tab
The General tab displays information about the spatial reference and reports the name and location of the projection file, if one exists. It is also where you define its spatial reference.
Show details about the spatial reference
Check the Show Details check box to display detailed information about the coordinate system and map projection.
Edit the spatial reference
Click the Edit button to define, change, or clear the spatial reference. This opens the Spatial Reference Properties dialog box.
Coordinates tab
The Coordinates tab displays information about the dataset extents.
Georeferenced datasets
The World File section reports how the dataset extent is affected by its georeferencing information. The displacement vectors are described as From- and To- coordinates. Point 1 is the lower left extent, and Point 2 is the upper right extent. If the control points are stored in a world (.wld) file, then its name and location are also reported. If the dataset is not georeferenced, the From- and To- coordinates display the same values.
Control points stored in a map (.mxd) document
When control points are stored only in the map (.mxd) document, this section displays information based upon the state of the map document and the application in which you open the dialog box. In ArcMap, the Catalog window reports information displayed in memory. As a result, changes to the dataset extent are displayed only while the map document is open. When you close the map document, this section displays information stored on disk—in this case, a dataset without a georeference. ArcCatalog, however, only reports information that is stored on disk, so it's possible to see different information depending on the application you are using.
Spatial extents
The CAD Dataset Extents section displays the spatial extents of the source data in all three dimensions: x, y, and z.
Details tab
The Details tab displays information about the source file.
File information
The CAD Dataset section lists the name and location of the source file and its CAD format and format version.
Layer information
The Layer Visibility section lists the drawing layers and their visibility settings stored in the source file.
Feature class information
The CAD Dataset Feature Counts section reports the total number of CAD features that direct-read is successfully translating.
