License information for defense and intelligence

Task

License/product

Using mosaic datasets, including:

  • Publishing mosaic datasets as an image service
  • Creating caches from mosaic datasets
  • Serving mosaic datasets in map services (in an .mxd file you serve)
  • Serving mosaic datasets in geoprocessing services

Requires the ArcGIS for Server Image extension.

Creating mosaic datasets and adding data to a mosaic dataset

Requires an ArcGIS for Desktop Standard or Advanced license.

Modifying the appearance of cartographic representations

Requires an ArcGIS for Desktop Standard or Advanced license.

Adding military features to a map (using feature templates defined in Esri military feature layer packages)

Change the data frame to use the Maplex label engine. Note that to turn on the Labeling toolbar, click Customize > Toolbars > Labeling in ArcMap.

Defining your own feature templates

Be sure to select military styles when you install ArcGIS for Desktop.

3D tasks

Requires the ArcGIS 3D Analyst extension. Use ArcGlobe for tasks you want to do with military features in 3D.

The procedure for defining new types of military features is the same for ArcGlobe as it is for ArcMap; however, note the following considerations for ArcGlobe:

  • You create military operations features differently in ArcGlobe than in ArcMap. For military operations features, you must use simple symbology during editing.
  • Labels can be draped or billboarded in ArcGlobe. For details, see Displaying feature labels in ArcGlobe.
  • You can't edit draped features in ArcGlobe.
