Installing Mapping and Charting solutions on your machine

The installation process copies the necessary files to your machine so you can work with the Esri Mapping and Charting solutions software. Before installing Esri Mapping and Charting solutions, close all applications on your computer and verify that your computer meets the minimum system requirements.

Note:

ArcGIS Workflow Manager extension for Desktop can be installed from the ArcGIS for Desktop media or the Customer Care site. It is not included with the setup for the solution.

Steps:

1. On the Esri Customer Care website, click Download for Esri Mapping and Charting 10.1.

   The Esri Download Manager web page appears.

2. Click Click to download your file now.

   The Destination Folder for Files dialog box appears.

3. Keep the default location or click Browse to choose a different location to extract the files.
   Note:

   If you are installing several Esri products, the product name is appended to the download location so it remains unique.

4. Click OK.

   The Esri Mapping and Charting Solutions 10.1 message appears and notifies you that the installation files have been extracted successfully.

5. To run the installation, ensure that the Launch the setup program check box is checked.

   If you want to run the installation at a later time, you can uncheck the Launch the setup program check box.

6. Click Next on the Welcome to the Esri Mapping and Charting Solutions 10.1 Setup Program dialog box.

   The License Agreement dialog box appears.

7. Click the I accept the license agreement option.
   Note:

   If you do not accept the license agreement, the installation will end.

8. Click Next.

   The Product Selection dialog box appears. By default, Production Mapping and Task Assistant Manager are selected for installation.

   License:

   Even though all the products can be installed, the tools are not enabled unless you have a license. The licenses also enable some extra features; for example, a Production Mapping license allows you to use the Atlas feature if it is installed.

   Tip:

   Aeronautical Solution installs Esri Aeronautical Solution and ArcGIS for Aviation: Airports functionality.

9. To choose to not install a product, click the drop-down arrow next to the feature you do not want to install and click This product will not be available.
10. Click Next.

    The Ready to Install the Program dialog box appears.

11. Click Install.

    The installation starts.

    The InstallShield Wizard Completed dialog box appears once the installation finishes.

12. Click Finish.
