Installing the ArcSDE application server and command line tools on Linux or UNIX

To install the application server and command line tools, log in to the server as the operating system sde user and run the installation program of the ArcSDE setup you downloaded from the Esri Customer Care portal.

Steps:
  1. Log in as the sde operating system user to the server where you want to install the ArcSDE application server and command line tools.
  2. Create a directory and place the setup files you downloaded from the Esri Customer Care portal in it.
  3. If you are using an ISO file, mount the ISO image.
  4. Create another directory to which you will install the files.
  5. Type the install command at the operating system prompt to start the installation.

    ./install -load

    The command-driven dialog for the installation starts.

  6. Read the license agreement and accept it by typing yes, or exit by pressing ENTER or typing no if you do not agree with the terms.

    If you do not accept the license agreement, the installation program ends.

  7. Specify the location from which the installation is run and press ENTER.
  8. Specify the directory to which you want to install and press ENTER.
  9. Choose which features to install:
    • Press ENTER to accept the default and install both features.
    • Type the corresponding number of the feature you want to install and press ENTER.

Your db2exe directory in the location where you chose to install ArcSDE contains the files necessary to use the features you chose: the ArcSDE application server and/or the ArcSDE command line tools.
