Preparing to install Workflow Manager

Obtaining a license

ArcGIS Workflow Manager uses your current ArcGIS license system and requires authorization to be activated. You will need to update your license manager to add the ArcGIS Workflow Manager feature. Once your license manager has been updated, you will be able to use the ArcGIS Workflow Manager applications and activate the installed ArcGIS Workflow Manager extension through the standard ArcGIS Extensions dialog box.

Please refer to the ArcGIS for Desktop help for more information on authorizing ArcGIS for Desktop extensions.

Uninstalling previous ArcGIS Workflow Manager products

If the following products are installed on your machine and are releases previous to 10.2.x, they must be uninstalled before proceeding with the ArcGIS Workflow Manager extension for Desktop setup. All ArcGIS products previous to 10.2.x must be uninstalled before installing any ArcGIS 10.2.x product.

NoteNote:

Esri strongly recommends that all sample and third-party extensions or plugs-ins be uninstalled before installing a newer release of ArcGIS. Remove these from your computer before uninstalling ArcGIS products. Contact the distributor or manufacturer to confirm that they are supported with ArcGIS for Desktop 10.2.x. If they are, you can install them again after installing ArcGIS for Desktop 10.2.x.

The ArcGIS Workflow Manager extension for Desktop setup will terminate and display a dialog box if conflicting releases of these products exist on your machine. If so, you must uninstall each of them, then run the Desktop setup again to proceed with your installation.

As long as all the installed products are release 10.2.x, they can coexist on your computer without conflict.

CautionCaution:

If both ArcGIS Workflow Manager for Desktop and ArcGIS Workflow Manager for Server are installed on a system, they must be uninstalled in a specific order. ArcGIS Workflow Manager for Desktop must be uninstalled before ArcGIS Workflow Manager for Server.

NoteNote:

Always use Add/Remove Programs from the Windows control panel to uninstall these products.
