Installing ArcGIS Web Applications for the Java Platform on Linux

Preparing to install ArcGIS Web Applications for the Java Platform on Linux

  1. Make sure the user has full permissions to the ArcGIS Web Applications for the Java Platform installation directory. Group users and all others must have at least execute permissions to the ArcGIS Web Applications for the Java Platform installation directory.
  2. Navigate to the directory where the ArcGIS Web Applications for the Java Platform tar file was uncompressed, or insert the ArcGIS Web Applications for the Java Platform media into the appropriate drive and browse for Setup to launch the setup program.
NoteNote:

It is recommended that you do not install ArcGIS Web Applications for the Java Platform to a remote network drive. If the remote drive is not accessible at uninstall time, the uninstall could fail and leave files behind.

How to install the ArcGIS Web Applications for the Java Platform on Linux

  1. Launch the ArcGIS Web Applications for the Java Platform setup.
  2. Evaluate the Introduction dialog box and click Next to continue.
  3. Review the license agreement and accept if you agree. Click Next to continue with the installation.
  4. Select the appropriate installation type (Complete, Minimal, or Custom). Details of each type are provided. Click Next to continue with the installation.
    NoteNote:

    If Custom installation type is selected, select or deselect desired features and click Next to continue with the installation.

  5. Click Next to accept the default location, or click Choose to specify a custom destination.
  6. Review the summary information and click Install to begin the installation.
  7. When completed, click Done to exit the wizard.
  8. Start the Web Applications manager in the terminal by running this script (sample based on default install location):
    ${HOME}/arcgis/WebADF/startmanager.sh
