Installing ArcGIS 10.1 SP1 for Server

ArcGIS 10.1 Service Pack 1 (SP1) for Server is provided as a setup program and is executed through a setup utility. With the SP1 setup, you can:

• Upgrade an existing machine running ArcGIS 10.1 for Server to SP1. To do this, follow the instructions below.

OR:

• Install ArcGIS 10.1 SP1 for Server on its own. There is no need to install ArcGIS 10.1 for Server and then apply SP1. To do this, run the SP1 setup and follow the steps in Installing ArcGIS for Server on one machine.

Note:

The SP1 upgrade will restart all of your ArcGIS Server services. You should consider your ArcGIS Server site offline during the upgrade.

1. From the command prompt, launch the ArcGIS 10.1 SP1 for Server setup script as the same user that was used to install the existing 10.1 final version of ArcGIS for Server. For example: <CD ROOT or untar directory>/Setup.

   Tip:

   To launch the setup script from the ArcGIS 10.1 SP1 for Server setup media, click the setup script and select the Run in Terminal button.

2. The setup will detect your existing 10.1 final version of ArcGIS for Server on the target machine and prompts you to decide if you want to continue or exit the update. For example:

   ArcGIS 10.1 for Server (Linux) Service Pack 1
   =========================================================================
   
   Your ArcGIS 10.1 for Server is installed at:
   
   /home/ags/arcgis/server
   
   Confirm Settings
   =========================================================================
   Product to update:             ArcGIS 10.1 for Server (Linux)
   Location to update:            /home/ags/arcgis/server
   
   Your ArcGIS 10.1 for Server will be stopped when installing this 
   Service Pack and restarted after installation.
   
     'y' to continue with these settings
     'q' to exit without applying this product
   
   Enter choice [y,q] (y):
   

3. Type y and press ENTER to accept the detected settings and continue with the update.

   Note:

   Please wait while ArcGIS for Server is upgraded to SP1. This may take several minutes.

After the installation completes, ArcGIS Server Manager will automatically open. It is not necessary to reauthorize ArcGIS Server or configure ArcGIS Server Manager.
