About the license manager

A license manager is required to administer the ArcGIS Concurrent Use installations of ArcGIS for Desktop, ArcGIS Engine, and their extensions. The license manager allows you to install and use concurrent-use versions of these products on as many machines as you want. The number of concurrent-use licenses in your license file determines the number of users who can simultaneously run the software product.

To use ArcGIS 10.2.2 Concurrent Use software, you must install or have an existing ArcGIS 10.2, 10.2.1, or 10.2.2 License Manager.

ArcGIS licenses can be served from a Windows, Solaris, or Linux license manager. For example, a Windows installation of ArcGIS for Desktop can obtain a license from either a Windows or Linux 10.2.x license manager. For more information on administering the license manager, see the License Manager Reference Guide, lmrefguide.htm, available in the documentation folder of the ArcGIS for Desktop media. After installing the license manager, this guide is also available from Start > Programs > ArcGIS > License Manager > License Manager Reference Guide or in the installation folder at C:\Program Files\ArcGIS\License10.2\Documentation\lmrefguide.htm.

On UNIX and Linux machines, the License Manager Reference Guide can be accessed from $HOME/arcgis/license10.2/documentation/lmrefguide.htm.

See Installing the license manager for installation information.
