Add feature service URL to AXF

The Add feature service URL to AXF tool embeds the URL of a feature service into an AXF file to enable server synchronization of field data.

The tool requires the following two inputs:

Steps:
  1. See the Get Data for ArcPad topic to learn how to prepare an ArcPad project that will include an AXF file that you can use with this tool.
  2. Publish a map service with feature access capability from the same map document (MXD) that you used to create your ArcPad project (and AXF file).
  3. Create a layer file from this feature service by right-clicking the feature service in the Catalog tree, and choosing Create Layer.

To do this, the use GIS services option must be selected when you connect to your ArcGIS server. By doing this, feature services will be exposed as individual feature layers in the Catalog tree. If you do not choose use GIS services, you'll only see the map service in the Catalog tree.

  4. Launch the Add feature service URL to AXF tool, and browse to the AXF file and layer files that you just created.

Ensure that the feature service was used to create the layer file. If the map service was used to create the layer file, the tool will provide an error message stating that it's an incorrect service type.

  5. Tap OK.
  6. Distribute the amended ArcPad project as you would any other ArcPad project in one of the following ways:
