Add a new global expression

Add a new global expression when you want to define an expression to be used for all fields of the same name, regardless of layer, that are in the open map.

Steps:
  1. Start ArcPad in Design Mode.
  2. Click the Quick Fields tool on the main toolbar.
  3. Choose Add.

    The Expression Builder dialog box appears.

  4. Choose Global.

  5. Type the name of the field that needs an expression defined.
  6. Type a name for your expression.
  7. On the Select a Filter drop-down list, choose your preferred function category. For example, System. On the Select a function drop-down list, choose a function from the category. In this example, the System category will display the User Name, Unique ID, Sequential ID, and Incremental ID functions. For example, choose User Name.

    When you choose a function, its name is displayed in the expression preview.

  8. Choose either a separator (for example, _, / , \, or a space) or free text to add to your expression.

    As you add functions, separators, and text to your expression, the expression preview is updated.

  9. To clear the expression and start again, tap Delete .
  10. When you're finished, tap OK to save your expression.
