Server

The Server tab is used to specify display and logging options when accessing an ArcIMS service, ArcGIS Server ArcPad service, ArcGIS feature service, ArcGIS Online hosted feature service, or when connecting to ArcGIS Online to share and use ArcPad packages.

Server tab

Default to automatic refresh

When using ArcGIS Online basemaps, the Default to Automatic Refresh check box allows you to control the automatic refresh of basemap tiles. When checked, as you pan the map, ArcPad attempts to download available tiles for the current extent. When unchecked, as you pan the map, only tiles that have previously been downloaded display. If you know you will be offline and want to use tiles that have previously been downloaded, uncheck this check box.

When checked, all new IMS Server layers added to the map have the Default to Automatic Refresh check box checked on the Server page of the Layer Properties dialog box. When unchecked, the Default to Automatic Refresh check box is unchecked for all new IMS Server layers added to the map. Uncheck this check box when using a slow Internet connection. By default, this check box is checked.

Log IMS requests (applicable to ArcIMS layers only)

When the Log Server Requests check box is checked, log files are created for all new ArcIMS layers added to the map. These log files are created in the same folders as the ArcIMS layers and have the same names as the ArcIMS layers’ .gnd files but with .log extensions. All communication between ArcPad and the ArcIMS layers in your map are written to these log files. This option is useful for troubleshooting ArcIMS connection problems. By default, this check box is unchecked.

Suppress synchronization downloads

When the Suppress Synchronization Downloads check box is checked, ArcPad performs an upload-only synchronization with feature services. Local edits are pushed to the feature service but no new, edited, or deleted records from other clients of the service download. By default, this check box is unchecked.

Protected services credentials

In the Username and Password text boxes, enter the user name and password to use to access secured services. Password protected services can be accessed via HTTP or HTTPS. By default, these text boxes are blank.
