Maintain parcels
The Tax Parcel Editing map is authored for local government parcel editors. It organizes the survey framework, subdivisions, lots, tax parcels, and encumbrances in a fabric data model that can be used with the Parcel Editor toolbar. It is an editor that can be used by mapping technicians in an Assessors office, Public Works agency, Register of Deeds office, or any other agency responsible for managing land records information.

The editing map helps you modernize your land records data and supports standard editing workflows such as:
- Adjusting parcel boundaries
- Updating parcel corners
- Merging parcels
- Dedicating public right-of-ways
- Splitting parcels using an area description, description with a floating start point, description with a monumented starting point, or the geometry of an existing parcel.
- Subdividing parcels using CAD data
It is a configuration of ArcGIS that will:
- Improve access to parcel information
- Manage parcel attributes and feature-linked annotation
- Optimize parcel boundary data in the fabric data model
- Load traverse information from external sources
Additional information can be found in the Esri whitepaper entitled Loading Data into a Parcel Fabric. This whitepaper will help you organize your parcel data and prepare for the migration to the parcel fabric data model used in ArcGIS.
You can download and configure the Tax Parcel Editing map for your organization. When you do, you'll learn how to create and maintain parcel information using ArcGIS for Desktop and your organization's data.
