Intelligence analysts use maps to merge information from many sensors and sources to find patterns, understand the enemy, and solve complex intelligence problems. Analysts compile and share databases of derived information, and use maps to present in-depth intelligence briefings.
The Intelligence Analysis map and analysis templates provide a framework and specialized tools for performing intelligence analysis to support planning and operations. They also assist in creating effective intelligence reporting products.
Position Analysis
The Position Analysis template lets an analyst import tables of reported position data, using a variety of coordinate notations. It contains tools to create lines of bearing from a known position at a given azimuth and distance, and to create geodetic range rings, with radials at specified intervals and distances.
Visibility and Range
The Visibility and Range template allows an analyst to find highest and lowest points on the terrain is a specified area, create lines of sight between observers and targets, and find the areas visible and invisible to one or more observer points. It also allows the analyst to create range rings with radials around points at specified intervals and distances, and to create range fans interactively, or from features with attributes for range, bearing, and traversal.
Helicopter Landing Zone
The Helicopter Landing Zone template allows an analyst to create standard Helicopter Landing Zone products with core ArcGIS tools. The template includes a map template and feature templates for typical features collected for Helicopter Landing Zone studies. These features include possible Helicopter Landing Zone areas, their dimensions, and a variety of obstruction types. The obstruction features are divided into point obstructions, such as trees and flag poles, linear obstructions, such as ditches, power lines, and walls, and area obstructions such as buildings and patches of trees.
Imagery Catalog Web
The Imagery Catalog Web (ICW) template is a web application template, designed to help you quickly set up a web application for searching vast distributed collections of imagery. The ICW application lets an analyst use a browser to query multiple image services to obtain the best imagery for a particular area and task. The application searches against the imagery footprints and metadata, so large volumes of images are easily searchable by specific criteria, but bandwidth usage across networks is kept low, until a specific image (or set of imagery) is actually downloaded. -Coming soon
Military Aspects of Terrain
The Military Aspects of Terrain template assists an analyst in properly categorizing the terrain information in useful ways to aid in decision making. This template helps to create the cross country mobility, zones of entry, cover and concealment, and key terrain overlays. These overlays are essential layers in both the planning and operations templates. The military aspects of terrain template uses information stored as part of the topographic basemap.
